Mellor Olsson Lawyers

Mellor Olsson is a large law firm in Adelaide’s CBD who were looking for a new space to occupy.  Currently occupying a traditional space with individual offices, we were tasked to transition their workplace to open plan and paper light.  The firm had recently completed a refresh to their branding; modern, confident, and somewhat understated. We wanted to reflect this mood and feel in their new space.

Spanning over two levels, a major draw card of the new tenancy at 89 Pirie Street is the large exterior terrace which is incorporated into the design on the lower of the two floors.  The decision was made early that the staff breakout area would be situated on this level to maximise workplace amenity. The terrace also has a secure access if required for client functions. Open plan workstations for 50 staff also occupy this level.

A large penetration in the upper floor enabled an open stair to connect the two levels and create a sense of volume. Level 6 occupies front of house facilities, being a generous reception and client waiting areas, boardrooms and client meeting areas. It was important to create visual links between spaces while maintaining security. Workstations for a further 40 staff also occupy this level.

A sophisticated palette of timbers, concrete greys & muted tones represent the modern transition the company  has made.
