Gawler Grande Views Aged Care Facility is the first stage of a major redevelopment of the existing Martindale Aged Care Facility in Gawler, South Australia. The overall approved development comprises 16,285sqm of new and refurbished accommodation including a 126 bed standalone aged care facility, 56 Independent Living Units of 1 and 2 bedroom apartments with associated under croft car parking and the refurbishment of the 2 storey State Heritage Listed Martindale House into a Community Hub. The 8,180sqm Aged Care facility completed in December 2015 is a state of the art nursing home comprising 126 single bedrooms all with ensuites. The development includes full commercial kitchen and laundry facilities, a café, resident dining and living rooms to each level, a hairdresser, conference and diversional therapy rooms with associated administration and care support facilities. Built on a very challenging site on a steeply sloping escarpment overlooking the township of Gawler, the facility consists of four levels with a basement car park containing 56 car spaces built into the hillside. This design was created when PACT was known as Pruszinski Architects.
